Fabio Turone is a writer, editor and researcher in science journalism. He directs the Agency Zoe of scientific and medical information and the Center for Ethics in Science and Journalism, both based in Milan.

Since 2023 he is work-package leader in the FRONTIERS project, funded by the European Research Council’s Science Journalism Initiative, to establish residencies for science journalists in research institutions across Europe.

Since 2017 he is the Italy correspondent of Research Professional News, covering Research Policy, Higher Education and Research and Innovation. Since 2019 he contributed news, comments and editorials to Nature, Nature Middle East and Nature Italy.

In 2021 he published the book “Scienza senza maiuscola. L'etica della ricerca per una cittadinanza scientifica" (“Science without capital initial. Research ethics for a scientific citizenship”), coauthored with Daniela Ovadia (Codice Edizioni).

He was the chair of the European Conference of Science Journalism ECSJ2020 in Trieste (Italy) and board member and co-head of communications of the World Conference of Science Journalists WCSJ2019 Lausanne (Switzerland). 

In 2016-17 he was Research Fellow of the Knight Science Journalism program at the MIT in Boston. 

He is a member of the Italian Order of professional journalists since 1994, and President of the Association of Science Writers in Italy (SWIM) since 2010.

Since 2023 he is member of the Association of ERC grantees.
