Ahmet Üstüner is an Associate Professor at Istanbul University, Research Institute of Turkology. He finished his PhD at the same university with a dissertation On the Ottoman translation of the Mercator Atlas. He specialised in the history of Ottoman and European Cartography, Ottoman geographical works and Ottoman medical literature. He is currently working on the book Ottoman translation of the Blaeu Atlas. He also carries out the projects of publishing Turkish-Islamic Geographical Works and Ottoman Medical History works. He is also the chief editor of Türkiyat Mecmuası, a century-old academic journal.
