Tonya Blowers is Coordinator of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) based in Trieste, Italy. She has a PhD in Women and Gender from the University of Warwick (UK) and a Masters in literature and communications (Vermont, USA). Since 2013, Tonya has been working to support the rapidly increasing OWSD membership (currently 9000+ women scientists from developing countries) and national chapters (currently 51) as well as developing the PhD and Early Career fellowships programmes. Before joining OWSD, Tonya was acting Public Information Officer at TWAS (the World Academy of Sciences ), editing the TWAS Newsletter and website and contributing many articles on science in developing countries.
