Dr. Eker is currently an Assistant Professor at Radboud University, Netherlands and a Research Scholar at International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA). Her interdisciplinary research profile combines simulation modelling, systems analysis and decision sciences to overcome pressing societal challenges about sustainability and climate change mitigation. Her current research interests center around the drivers and implications of demand-side climate change mitigation, sustainable diets, and co-production of mitigation and sustainability scenarios through simple integrated assessment models. Societal relevance and impact of her research has been demonstrated by collaborations with several decisionmakers and stakeholders such as the World Bank, UK Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, EIT Climate-KIC, National Economic Council of Israel, and private organizations. Sibel complemented her scientific career with research and outreach activities at Climate Interactive, a non-profit organization based in the US. She developed science-based public and stakeholder engagement tools for climate solutions together with MIT Sustainability Initiative.
