CV
Ruth Morgan is Professor of Crime and Forensic Science at UCL (University College London), Founder and Director of the UCL Centre for the Forensic Sciences, and Co-Director of the UCL Arista Institute, an initiative between the Faculties of Engineering Sciences and Arts and Humanities. She is an interdisciplinary researcher, fascinated by the intersections between disciplines, and always seeking to address challenges in ways that hold understandings of both science and society together. Her research addresses critical questions in two main areas: the accurate interpretation of forensic science evidence, and also the challenges for interdisciplinarity, creativity and engagement across disciplines and between the university and industry, business and government. Ruth has served as Specialist Adviser to the UK House of Lords Science and Technology Committee, the World Economic Forum Global Future Council and as Vice Dean (Interdisciplinarity and Entrepreneurship). She is a regular speaker and commentator on forensic science, interdisciplinarity, and science in policy, and she is a strong advocate for problem based research that has an impact in the real world.
