The Department of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and its partners will host the inaugural Science Diplomacy for Economic Development: Hydrogen Economy workshop from 5 to 7 December at the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town.  

The latest Cityzens 4 Clean Air fun run will take place in Cape Town on 3 December. The Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) is partnering with UrbanBetter to highlight air pollution and the contribution that citizen science can make to mitigating the effects of climate change.

World Science Forum Fact Sheet

The Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) invites the media to the World Science Forum (WSF) 2022, to be hosted for the first time in Cape Town from 6 to 9 December, under the theme "Science for Social Justice". The DSI’s annual Science Forum South Africa will not take place this year, as it hosts the global forum.

With the international climate change conference, COP27, concluding last week in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, the world's attention was once again brought to the ongoing global impact of climate change and the need to drastically reduce vehicle emissions, coal-fuelled power plants and fumes from chemical production.

The stage is set for the 2022 World Science Forum (WSF), which will be held from 5 to 9 December at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. This is one of the leading global events interrogating the role of science in society and will be held in Africa for the first time this year.
